New Learning Center Opens for Displaced Children

Back to News

A new temporary learning center opened this month, providing safe classroom space for 150 displaced children who had been without formal schooling since their families were forced to relocate.

The center was built with input from parents and community leaders, who helped select a location that families could reach safely and identified teachers from within the displaced community itself. Classes began within days of the center's completion, focused initially on core literacy and numeracy to help students catch up on missed instruction.

KHAI will continue supporting the center with learning materials and teacher training in the coming months, and is assessing nearby camps for similar need.
