Protection Services

Displacement exposes people to risks that go beyond physical safety alone. Family separation, loss of documentation, and the breakdown of familiar community structures leave many, especially women, children, and people with disabilities, more vulnerable to exploitation and harm.

The Protection Services program builds community-based systems to identify and respond to these risks early. Trained volunteers and staff work within camps to connect at-risk individuals with support, mediate disputes, and help reunite separated families wherever possible.

Psychosocial support is a core part of the program, offering safe spaces and counseling for those coping with trauma, loss, or ongoing stress. By working through trusted community members rather than external structures alone, KHAI aims to strengthen the community's own capacity to protect and care for its most vulnerable members.
