Clean Water Wells Project

Five villages in the project area relied on surface water sources that were both unreliable during dry months and prone to contamination, contributing to recurring outbreaks of waterborne illness, particularly among young children.

Over the course of the project, KHAI drilled new community wells and rehabilitated existing ones that had fallen into disrepair, working with local labor wherever possible to build ownership and technical familiarity within each village. Each well site was selected in consultation with residents to ensure fair and practical access.

Community water committees were trained to maintain the wells and manage basic repairs, reducing the likelihood that a broken pump would leave a village without water for an extended period. With the project now complete, all five villages have sustained access to clean drinking water.
