Community Healthcare

Years of displacement have left many communities in Karenni State without reliable access to even basic medical care. Health facilities that once served entire townships have been damaged, abandoned, or cut off by active conflict, leaving families to travel long distances, often on foot, for treatment that would otherwise be routine.

KHAI's Community Healthcare program addresses this gap through a network of mobile clinics staffed by trained health workers who travel directly to displacement camps and remote villages. These teams provide primary care, maternal and child health services, vaccinations, and treatment for common illnesses, while also referring more complex cases to partner facilities.

Alongside direct care, the program invests in local capacity by training community health workers who can continue delivering basic services between clinic visits. This dual approach, immediate relief paired with long-term skill building, reflects KHAI's broader commitment to helping communities move from dependency toward self-reliance.
