Clean water and basic sanitation are among the most fundamental determinants of health in displacement settings, yet they are frequently the hardest infrastructure to rebuild once damaged or lost. Contaminated water sources contribute directly to preventable disease outbreaks in overcrowded camps.

KHAI's Water & Sanitation program constructs and rehabilitates community water points, latrines, and washing facilities, working closely with camp committees to site them where they will be used safely by everyone, including women and children who often bear the burden of water collection.

Hygiene promotion runs alongside infrastructure work, helping households understand and adopt practices that reduce disease transmission. Together, these efforts lower the risk of outbreaks and reduce the daily burden that unsafe water and inadequate sanitation place on already stretched families.
